Job Title: Swim Instructor / Lifeguard / Jr. Lifeguard

The Town of Wynyard is looking for qualified, energetic and motivated Supervisors, Lifeguards/ Instructors and Jr. Lifeguards to work at the Wynyard Swimming Pool for the 2024 season.   Current certificates in Standard First Aid + CPR-C with AED Training and National Lifeguard Award or Bronze Cross are required. Swim Instructor and Pool Operators certification is an asset. Position reports to the Director of Leisure Services. Applicants under the age of 16 must have Worker’s readiness certificate.

Job Responsibilities

  • Complete daily tasks including; documenting water chemistry levels, following opening and closing procedures, routine cleaning duties and equipment checks, collecting admissions and filling out daily financial logs
  • Supervise swimmers, enforce pool rules and effectively instruct Wynyard’s Learn to Swim program
  • Provide a safe environment for all facility users and staff

Anticipated Start/End Date: May – September 2024
Hours per week: 20-40 depending on the position

Wages: $15-$20 depending on experience and position


Summer Recreation Coordinator 

The Town of Wynyard is accepting applications for the Summer Recreation Coordinator. The successful candidate will work with the Director of Leisure Services on a variety of projects, as well as assisting the parks staff, pool staff, and the Wynyard and District Museum.  Duties will include maintenance of the ball diamonds and other recreation facilities and equipment. They will also be planning, facilitating, and evaluating Senior’s Week, fundraising events, movie nights, and other various recreation programs and activities for community members of all ages.  Knowledge of graphic design programs, google drive, word processing and writing, telephone and other communication skills are an asset. 

The successful candidate must be a strong leader, creative problem solver, self-motivated, flexible and willing to try new things. A valid driver’s license is required.

Hours per week: 40 including some evenings and weekends
