Green Screen: An Earth Day Film Festival

Earth Day is April 22.  We can all take responsibility for our impact on the earth. In partnership with the Yorkton Film Festival, the Town of Wynyard will be presenting an afternoon of films showcasing the beauty and importance of our planet. The festival is free and open to all. 

1:00 CitizenKid: Earth Comes First (23:00)

In CitizenKid, four Canadian youth activists,Hannah Alper, Sophia Mathur, Charlene Rochaand Cooper Price set out to show how people can change the world no matter their age. They journey to Toronto, Ottawa, Washington and beyond, to engage with government leaders, fellow climate activists and to learn from an Indigenous Elder.

1:45 Call of the Forest: The Forgotten Wisdom of Trees (52:00)
Beresford-Kroeger’s journey explores our profound biological and spiritual connection to trees. From Japan and California to Vancouver Island and across to the great BorealForest, Diana meets people who are taking the lead to replant, restore and protect the last of these great ancient species forests. As the journey progresses the film explores the science, folklore, and history of this essential, and often overlooked, eco-system. Beresford-Kroeger reminds us that when we improve our profound human connection to woodlands we can, not only, restore our health - we can restore our planet.
