Centennial Park located at 700 block Ave. B.W. is the hub of all baseball, softball, fastball and slo-pitch in Wynyard. J.T. Hermiston Field went thorugh major renovations in 2002 and now has an irrigated grass infield. Wynyard Minor Ball plays the majority of its home games at Centennial Park. Diamonds are busy throughout the season with boys baseball and girls softball. Our community also has a recreational co-ed slo-pitch league. Play begins in May with some of the teams extending their season into August. A tournament fastball team also plays out of the Park. In the fall the Park’s fields are converted into practice soccer pitches for the high school.
The Park hosts a number of special events throughout the summer. The Father’s Day Weekend sees the grounds come alive with Carnival Days, featuring the world famous ‘Chicken Chariot Races’. The Park was the site of a R.C.M.P. Musical Ride Sept. 4, 2002
