BRIEF HISTORY
- First settled in 1905 by a group of Icelanders, joined by other settlers of Ukrainian, British and Polish origin.
- Named after the English family of a C.P.R. official’s wife.
- In 1908 became a village and in 1911 a town.
- Major flyway for waterfowl.

- Divisional point on a major trans-provincial C.P.R. line.
