Wynyard Tennis Courts & Skate Park to Open

June 5, 2020

The Town of Wynyard is pleased to announce that two of its outdoor recreation facilities will be open to the public following closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These facilities are:

The Skate Park located at Lions Park (date TBD, will open when construction is completed)
The Tennis Courts located at Wynyard Composite High School (will open Monday, June 8th)

Skate Park  – Covid-19 Restrictions

  • Ensure you stay 2 meters away from others
  • Maximum of 10 people in the skatepark (maximum 1-hour per skater if others are waiting)
  • If you are unwell, stay home

For a complete list of rules and etiquette, visit the Skate Park Page.

Tennis & Pickleball Courts – Covid-19 Restrictions

  • Ensure you stay 2 meters away from others
  • A maximum of 4 players per court (limit play to 1 hour if others are waiting)
  • No sharing of equipment (because it is still unknown if the virus can live on a tennis ball or pickle ball, use two cans of balls with distinct numbers or identify your balls with a marker in order to be able to differentiate them and only handle the balls that are yours)
  • If you are unwell, stay home

For a complete list of rules and etiquette, visit the Tennis & Pickleball Page.

There will be Town staff checking on these facilities regularly.  If Covid- 19 restrictions are not strictly followed, the facilities will be closed in order to protect the health of the community as a whole.

In addition, Playground Structures will remain closed until further notice; however, our green spaces are open for the community to enjoy.

The Town would like to thank residents for their continued diligence in their efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 when attending these facilities.
