Wee Care Preschool is a non-profit learning environment for children aged 3-4, run solely by the parents of the enrolled children. Children must be three or four year by December 31st to enter the September session. Class capacity is limited to twenty children with 1 teacher and 1 full time assistant. Classes run twice a week: Tues & Thurs mornings 9 – 11:30 am.

The Centre has involved constructing a facility and recruiting a practice. The Community Health Services Association (Wynyard & District) had its first membership meeting in 1962. 990 people supplied capital totalling $32,900.00 to begin the building project. Almost 80% of the labour was voluntary. Since 1981 the Centre has housed salaried physicians in Family Practice Medicine, with emphasis on patient education and prevention. Support staff includes a nurse, who offers blood pressure and foot care clinics, does ear syringing, desensitization shots, and other services as directed by the doctors. Minor procedures can be performed in-house. We provide space to the Public Health nurse, an optometrist, and two Lioness programs, the “Buckle Up Baby” seat program and the “Eye Glass Collection” program. Rural Canada has experienced difficulties recruiting, and retaining doctors. Wynyard is no exception. In the Spring of 1997, the Province invited the Clinic to join others in planning a Primary Care Pilot Project. This may be a window of opportunity for the community.

The Park is located 2.4 km’s south of Wynyard on Grid #640. It boasts 22 electrical camp sites, can accommodate a variety of large or small RV’s, campers, and tents. Included for your camping convenience are modern washrooms with showers, a playground, two sewage disposal tanks, drinking water, and a well-established trout fishery. The overnight camping fee is $10.00. This includes firewood. Reservations are accepted, but are not necessary. A day pass of $5.00, or a season pass of $15.00 will get you into the Park to enjoy the fishing or a picnic. For more information about the Park, call Roger during normal business hours.

The Wynyard Air Cadets is a youth program for people aged 12 – 18; administered by the Canadian Forces and funded through the Dept of National Defence.

We meet Wednesday nights Sept – May at 7:00 pm at the Wynyard Composite High School gymnasium, with our office located in the gym.

We have an active parent committee which meets the first Wednesday of each month in the school library. This committee works closely with the Officers to plan events and activities and we initiate various fund raising activties through out the year.

Senior cadets teach a variety of skills that they have learned at summer camps; such as survival, drill, flight training and ground school, as well as weekly activities like archery and flight simulator training. Through out the year cadets take part in the Remembrance Day Service, poppy drive with the Legion, public speaking events, sports weekends, Saskadet Camp, gliding, familiarization flying and various fund raising events sponsored by the parent committee.

Cadets have the opportunity to take trips and attend a variety of summer camps from general training to gliding and power scholarships. They learn valuable life and work skills like teamwork, leadership, and citizenship. Cadets also reap the personal benefits of increased self-confidence and physical fitness, learning how to take initiative, and how to make decisions.

There is no registration fee or cost to join – all we ask is a willingness to learn, cooperate and have fun.

The Bakery produces a complete line of breads, buns, and pastry, all made from scratch – the old-fashioned way. Birthday, anniversary, and a wide variety of special occasion cakes are available. Computerized photo cakes are our specialty. The cafe provides good old-fashioned breakfasts starting at 5:30 a.m. right until 2:00 p.m. Homemade soup and a mini loaf, and homemade hamburgers, made from locally produced beef, are our lunchtime favorites. Lunchtime catering services are available as well as catering for suppers and special functions. We offer a well-rounded education to students from grades seven to twelve. Division IV is semestered and offers individualized timetables. Staff adapt programs to special needs students and maintains high academic standards. There is a strong intramural sports, art and music, industrial arts, home economics, technological literacy, and second language program. The athletic council raises significant funds for the very active interschool sports program. The Student Representative Council raises funds and coordinates many student activities. Student clubs include Yearbook, Industrial Arts, Safari, and Peers Helping Peers. The latter club initiated peer mediation and hosted a very successful Provincial conference in September 1996. The school motto is “Striving for Excellence.” W.C.H.S. has reached the provincial level in scholarship, honor choir, honor band, drama, debating, Student United Nations, football, volleyball, curling, track & field, cross country, basketball, soccer, and badminton. Our nine hole grass green golf course was built in 1989 on the same area as our old sand green course. Our course may be shorter than most in total yardage (2633 back tees; 2482 front tees), but narrower fairways and smaller, slightly sloping greens, make our course quite challenging, even for the avid golfer. There are also a total of twenty-two sand traps on the course, and a water hazard which wraps around our shortest par three hole, #6 – 110 yards, and also cuts across #5 fairway which is rated as our toughest hole. After your round, you can relax in our clubhouse which is a renovated cottage school house. The clubhouse and course are fully licensed. The clubhouse also has a small menu, outdoor deck, and barbecue facility, which can accommodate a fair number for special events. We have a compact but fully stocked pro shop and offer club and cart rentals. We are located adjacent to highway #16 with our entrance off of Avenue D. Wynyard Technologies makes and bottles liquid ammonium sulphate (8-0-0-9). This surfactant is then sold to grain companies and fertilizer blenders. Wynyard Technologies also fishes Big Quill Lake for brine shrimp and diaptomus. Using a large pontoon boat with nets, we sell these unique lake creatures to the aquaculture industry for fish food. Wynyard Technologies has also developed a calf puller gauge to determine pulling strength when assisting a live birth. This is sold to vets and cow/calf producers. Wynyard United has worship services at 11:00 a.m. every Sunday.
Our building is wheelchair accessible Everyone is welcome!
Music has always played an important role in the life of our congregation. We still have an active choir that practices Sunday morning prior to worship services.
We offer three or four Sunday afternoon children’s events during the church year.
Our United Church Women host several fundraising events each year (fall supper and three bake sales). They also offer the pastoral ministry of supplying funeral lunches.

We are pleased to have two capable Licensed Lay Worship Leaders who can lead worship when the minister is away.

Wynyard United is partnered with Foote-Copeland United to form the Living Shamrock Pastoral Charge. Foote-Copeland United is a rural church located about 30 minutes southwest of Wynyard and usually has services twice a month from Easter to Christmas.
