The Music Corner, conveniently located on Wynyard’s main street, and within walking distance of both schools, offers children and adults an opportunity to learn and develop musically. Each week three local teachers offer lessons in a variety of disciplines. Marilyn Lazorko, of Bankend, offers “classical” piano, theory, singing, and speech arts, as well as music arranging skills using digital (electronic) piano and keyboard technology, with popular music as its resource. In addition, she teaches accordion. She is in the Music Corner studio on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Linda Burns of Wynyard teaches at the studio on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays throughout the teaching year. She offers piano lessons to young beginners in the Suzuki style (learning by ear), as well as private piano and theory lessons. Laureen Magnusson, also from Wynyard, is in the studio Monday through Thursdays. Laureen teaches private music lessons, private and group beginner violin lessons, and the Music for Young Children tm program. She also directs a bell chime ensemble at the local elementary school as well as a community tone chime ensemble. All three teachers help prepare students for theory and practical exams with the Royal Conservatory of Music and Conservatory Canada. For more information on specific programs, dates, fees, and/or to register, please call the teacher of your choice.
